What we currently offer – NONFICTION

We currently offer three packages with nonfiction:

1.) PLAN: 1-month package to work through a series of guided steps to create your book’s blueprint (outline)
2.) BUILD: 1-3 month package to develop a complete book proposal using your book’s blueprint
3.) PITCH: 1-month package of creating a pitch plan to get your book published

This isn’t just about coaching you through writing a book. It’s about coaching you through the process of successfully publishing a quality book that sells and making it the best it can be – a book your readers will love and recommend to others to read.

We offer guidance through the entire process, from planning to pitching. Every step is deliberate and crucial to the development of a great book. Designing a book that sells doesn’t start after you’ve already written the book. It starts at the beginning, during the planning phase. So, that’s exactly where we start with our first package. We help you nail down the transformation your readers will go through while reading your book, which is a crucial aspect of nonfiction. Finally, we guide you through writing your book proposal and help you build a pitch plan so you can get your book where you want it to be faster and with more confidence.

We have set our systems up in this way to ensure you are given the full support you need for all parts of the process, from planning to publishing.

Package 1: PLANBLUEPRINT FOR A BOOK ($999) – 1 month

How to write a book in the most efficient way by tackling the hardest part before you start to write. Designing a book that sells doesn’t start after you’ve already written the book. It starts at the beginning, during the planning phase. So, that’s exactly where we start with our first package. We help you nail down your ideal reader and the transformation they will go through while reading your book, which is a crucial aspect of nonfiction. We also help you decide on the right structure for your book. Lay the foundations for a great book by getting down all the base elements from the start.

The Blueprint functions as a checklist to make sure you are nailing down the key elements that make a great book, and you aren’t missing any important elements that go into writing a book. You can pick the Blueprint up as an add-on at any point regardless of where you are in the book writing process, but it’s best to do it as early as possible.

This package is for you if…

  • You are looking to write a nonfiction book that sells and that readers will love and connect with
  • You are looking to write a nonfiction guide or self-help book that will teach, help, or inspire others
  • You are a business professional or thought leader looking for another medium through which to connect with your audience
  • You are looking to become a thoughtful world leader or influencer who seeks to make an impact through the written word

What is included in the Blueprint Workbook

  • Book Fundamentals: On The Shelf – Targeted questions about your reader and your book
  • Get To Know Your Ideal Reader

  • Drafting the Final Chapter

What is included in the package

  2. Blueprint for a Book Method Work through 17 comprehensive steps of a workbook I will provide that is designed to help you build a strong foundation for your book, and submit the completed work to me. Plan about 20 hours total for this work, spread over the course of about a month. It requires some research, some writing, and a lot of thinking. Some exercises may seem simple but may prove to be difficult. Remember, we are laying the foundation for your entire book here.
  3. Coaching Guidance – Get as much help as you need with unlimited access to me in Trello as you work your way through the steps and build the Blueprint for your book.
  4. Editorial Letter Editorial summary that touches on your strengths and what needs improvement and in-line notes to support the points of the editorial summary, with a list of clear, actionable next steps.
  5. Two 60-Minute Coaching Calls – Have calls to go over your work, my feedback, answer any of your questions, and next steps.

Package 2: BUILDBOOK PROPOSAL ($1999/mo)

The book proposal is the nonfiction book’s key to getting agent representation and publisher acceptance. Using the foundation we set in your book’s blueprint, we build a book proposal and polish it to a professional level.

This package is for you if…

  • You would like to pitch your nonfiction book idea to agents and publishers to have it published but you don’t know where to start
  • You have the foundations for your book set already; i.e. You have already gone through the Blueprint either with us as PACKAGE 1: PLAN or with another book coach, and you are ready to develop a book proposal
  • You have a book proposal finished already and would like to work on revisions to polish it
  • You are not sure where to start with writing a book proposal and would like guidance with the process

What is included in the package

  1. Initial intake Q&A and Discovery + Consultation call Learn more about you, where you are with your book, and the support you need.
  2. Book proposal document – Document listing all the elements of a book proposal with detailed descriptions of each element.
  3. Comprehensive edits – Comments and feedback on each element of your book proposal.
  4. Building your book proposal We work together on your book proposal until it’s polished, making sure all elements are present and clear according to current industry standards; this could take 1 month or multiple, depending on your book and how far along you are with your book proposal (if you don’t know how to write one of what should be included, don’t worry! That’s exactly what we are here to help with).
  5. Coaching Guidance – Get as much help as you need with unlimited access to me in Trello as you work your way through the steps and build your book proposal. Document listing all the elements of a book proposal with detailed descriptions of each element.
  6. Polished Book Proposal We work on your book proposal until it’s polished and ready to send to agents; this means that the completion of this package will include your very own polished and ready-to-go proposal that you can start submitting to agents as soon as you are ready.
  7. Multiple 60-Minute Coaching Calls – Have coaching calls as needed to discuss feedback and comments on particularly tricky book proposal elements, as well as to answer any of your questions and give you information about next steps.

Package 3: PITCHPREPARE A PITCH STRATEGY ($1999/mo)

It’s important to develop a strategy when pitching to agents to avoid unnecessary rejections. Having the support of a professional book coach not only saves you valuable time you would spend researching how to successfully pitch to agents and publishers, but it also saves you the heartache that comes with unnecessary rejections – as we all know, rejections are expected when it comes to submitting your work in this way; but unnecessary rejections can be avoided if you put your best face forward and make your submission the best it can be. This means doing the work and knowing the current standards in the industry, which are both things a professional book coach can help you with.

This package is for you if…

  • You have a polished book proposal and you are ready to pitch to agents and publishers
  • You are ready to pitch and want to avoid unnecessary rejections or would like guidance on how to pitch strategically
  • You would like to pitch your nonfiction book proposal to agents and publishers to have it published but you don’t know where to start
  • You have already developed a book proposal either with us as PACKAGE 2: BUILD or with another book coach, and you are ready to pitch it
  • You have some idea of pitching and a list of some agents and publishers you would like to pitch to and you would like to build a strategy around that
  • You have an opportunity to attend a writing conference where you know there will be agents and would like to develop a plan to pitch to them
  • You are not sure where to start with pitching your book proposal to agents and would like guidance with the process

What is included in the package

  1. Initial intake Q&A and Discovery + Consultation call Learn more about you, where you are with your book, and the support you need.
  2. Agent spreadsheet Agent spreadsheet with at least 10 agents suitable for your book, ranked in priority tiers, with notes on why each agent is a good fit and their submission requirements.
  3. Coaching Guidance – Get as much help as you need with unlimited access to me in Trello as you work your way through the steps and build your pitch strategy.
  4. Pitch Strategy Document outlining the pitch strategy we have agreed upon with specific steps outlining how and when to approach each agent.
  5. 60-Minute Coaching Call – 60-minute coaching call to discuss the list of agents and your pitch strategy.

Nonfiction Book Coaching

YOU HAVE A STORY. ARE YOU READY TO TELL IT?

NOTE: If your book has memoir elements but it is primarily a prescriptive how-to guide or self-help nonfiction book, then you are in the right place. But if your book is a narrative memoir, please navigate to the page SERVICES>NARRATIVE MEMOIR instead.

Additional Info for Nonfiction

The Nonfiction pitch process is different from Fiction in that you pitch a book proposal and not a full book. For this reason, none of the Nonfiction packages require you to have the book written.

1.) Nonfiction Package 1 helps you plan the book.
2.) Nonfiction Package 2 is for putting together your book proposal.
3.) Nonfiction Package 3 is for pitching the proposal to agents and/or publishers.

Additional Info for Books with Memoir Elements

The Nonfiction Book Coaching packages on this page are for those who are looking to write books that are primarily prescriptive how-to guides or self-help nonfiction books. If you plan to include memoir elements in your book (i.e. include personal accounts from either your life or the lives of others) to illustrate what you are teaching, that is okay (and greatly encouraged!). But if your book is primarily a narrative memoir, then please navigate to the NARRATIVE MEMOIR page instead.

Prescriptive includes:
1.) Narrative nonfiction with memoir elements (follows a narrative structure but includes prescriptive elements – e.g. Bird by Bird)
2.) How-to/self-help with memoir elements (clearly follows a prescriptive structure but includes memoir elements – e.g. The Middle Finger Project, Designing Your Life).

“I would recommend Little Red Bird Publishing to anyone in a heartbeat! There is no one else who I would trust to help me with the editing and publishing of my book. I have zero regrets, and I can look back at the whole process with good memories because she took the pressure I felt with certain tasks and made it an enjoyable thing! She has exceeded all of my expectations and is such a joy to work with. Somehow, Robin takes the tasks that I ask her to take care of and helps me to still be a part of it without it being stressful. That’s exactly what I wanted and needed more than I could even express. It’s very clear that her goal is to help you achieve the outcome you’re after. “Publishing a book is daunting, and I was about to give up on my dream of turning my manuscript into a book. Then Robin saved me. I was able to sit back and let her take the lead. I really enjoyed her methodical, transparent approach to self-publishing. I knew exactly what stage we were at, at all times. Always very clear and prompt in communication and very much on time. She gave me a lot of confidence and guidance and, thanks to her, the book was published on time, as expected, without any hiccups. The smoothest collaboration ever. Hire her with confidence. She’ll get you published.”
